Capstone

(12th Grade Students)

Provides Career and Technology senior students an opportunity to gain work experience in the area they have been educated in since grades 10 and 11. 

Seniors have the opportunity to:

  • Work in their magnet career

  • Attain job entry in high scale occupations

  • Complete a transition between the school, workplace, and higher education

  • Acquire six credits in a local community college

International Baccalaureate

(11th - 12th Grade Students)

Through comprehensive and balanced curricula and coupled with challenging assessments, the International Baccalaureate Organization aims to assist schools in their endeavors to develop the individual talents of young people and teach them to relate their experience of the classroom to the realities of the world outside.  Beyond the intellectual rigor and high academic standards, strong emphasis is placed on the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship, to the end that IB students may become critical and compassionate thinkers, lifelong learners of world affairs, conscious of the shared humanity that binds all people together while respecting the variety of cultures and attitudes that make for the richness of life.

 

The International Baccalaureate Program

Fosters critical thinking, cooperative learning and a high level of scholarship

Interdisciplinary and performance-based instruction is emphasized

Upper level courses are equivalent to college courses

Independent reading and research is expected outside the class and during the summer

Aims to assist school in their endeavors to develop the individual talents of young people and teach them to relate their experiences of the classroom to the realities of the world outside.

 

A screening committee selects students for the IB program based on:

  • Standardized test scores

  • Grades

  • An essay

  • An interview

  • Evidence of strong motivation, critical thinking/problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
