JROTC

Major Singleton was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he spent his formative years.  During those years, he excelled in academics, as an honor roll student; and in athletics to include basketball, wrestling, boxing, martial arts and track.  Major Singleton played National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men's Division III Basketball at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Division I Basketball at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana.   

While in College, Major Singleton decided to enlist into the United States Marine Corps in October of 1993; and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  In 1997, Major Singleton was selected for the Meritorious Commissioning Program (MCP) and received subsequent orders to Officers Candidate School (OCS), where he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant.

Throughout his service, Major Singleton served in a variety of operational, administrative and instructor duties.  He is also an Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran with service in Al Anbar Province Iraq in 2005, where he served in Fallujah and Ramadi as a civil affairs officer, detachment commander and Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor; and in 2008 with Combined Joint Task Force 101 in Bagram, Afghanistan and U. S. Forces Afghanistan in Kabul.  In 2013, Major Singleton retired from the Marine Corps as a Major after 20 years of honorable service.  During that service he received several awards, decorations and commendations to include Meritorious Service Medals, Achievement Medals, Campaign Medals, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for his volunteer work in the civilian community focusing on the health and fitness of our youth.

Upon retirement from the Marine Corps, Major Singleton worked as an entrepreneur and small business owner in the health and fitness industry; and as Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) Senior Marine Instructor and MCJROTC Department Head at St. Charles High School in Waldorf, Maryland during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Major Singleton completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management at Mount Olive College in Mount Olive, North Carolina; and earned a Master of Military Studies degree with an emphasis on Martial Arts Culture from The United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Marine Corps University.

Major Singleton has also distinguished himself in health, fitness and athletics to include martial arts as a black belt martial arts instructor in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and as a practitioner of various other combat martial arts systems.   He was also a competitive boxer, wrestler, power lifter, track and basketball player at the high school and collegiate levels.  More importantly, Major Singleton has always been passionate about training and educating a multitude of men, women and children in both the military and civilian community on the importance of health and fitness through exercise and proper nutrition. Major Singleton currently holds certifications from the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI), the most extensive personal training certification available in the United States.  There he studied anatomy and physiology, including kinesiology and biomechanics.  His certifications include NPTI Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), NPTI Certified Nutritional Consultant, CPR/AED, First Aid and several specialty certifications to include in home training; strength sports; past/present/future of personal training; advanced cardio programming; how to train athletes; how to train older adults; how to train disabled persons; how to train persons with injuries; and fascial anatomy.

Major Singleton currently serves as the Senior Marine Instructor of the MCJROTC Program at Milford Mill Academy in Baltimore, Maryland; and is a proud father of a 21 year old daughter, who is an aspiring veterinarian and a graduate of the University of Maryland.
