Grading Structure

Semester I (Part A)

  • Marking Period 1: 50%
  • Marking Period 2: 50%

Semester II (Part B)

  • Marking Period 3: 45%
  • Marking Period 4: 45%
  • Final Exam (if applicable): 10%

Note: Both semesters (Part A and Part B) are required to earn full credit for the course. The final exam counts for 10% of the grade for each semester.

MCAP Classes Grading Breakdown

This applies to MCAP-tested courses: English 10, Living Systems, Algebra 1, American Government

  • Marking Period 3 (MP 3): 40%
  • Marking Period 4 (MP 4): 40%
  • MCAP Classes Final Exam: 20%

Credit Recovery Options

If students need to recover credits, BCPS offers several flexible programs:

1. Extended Day Learning Program (EDLP)

After-school, self-paced courses designed to help students recover credits outside of regular school hours.

2. School Programs for Acceleration and Recovery of Credit (SPARC)

Blended learning opportunities that combine online and in-person classes to recover credits.

Additional Information

  • The curriculum-based assessment schedule was revised to better align with instructional pacing.
  • If a student does not attempt any work on an assignment or assessment in good faith, a zero will be assigned.
