MMAVA

Welcome

Welcome to our Visual Art Department Magnet webpage! Our primary mission is to nurture the creative ambitions of each student. We are dedicated to building a strong foundation of art concepts, techniques, and skills.  We provide a solid platform for students to identify their own artistic needs in order to guide them through achieving their goals. Through an engaging and diverse curriculum, we aim to instill a deep appreciation and understanding of visual art and art history while encouraging students to explore the limitless possibilities of self-expression.

Our dedicated faculty offers a supportive environment, allowing students to confidently articulate their artistic voice. We strive to be a catalyst for developing both self-confidence and artistic skill while empowering students to create powerful and dynamic works of art that reflect their unique perspectives.

In our magnet program, we offer specialized programs in Painting, Multimedia, and Photography. Students have the opportunity to delve into advanced techniques and develop their skills beyond the standard art class. These specialized pathways prepare students for possible careers in the arts, and all magnet students are required to take an AP art course where they will research, plan, and develop a whole body of work as a professional artist would. Achieving a high score on the AP exam can earn students' college credit, further advancing their academic and artistic pursuits.

Join us in our commitment to fostering creativity and excellence in the visual arts and embark on a transformative artistic opportunity with us! Below is a diagram showing student pathways options in the visual art magnet program:
